1. If your results retrieve a folder with the name 'jdk' immediately followed by a series of version numbers (for example, jdk1.8.0_22), then your Oracle JDK has been installed. You should double-check the contents of this folder to ensure that the installation files are intact. If you are unsure about this, proceed to step 3 Install the Oracle JDK section  to re-install the Oracle JDKit. Otherwise, proceed to the step 3d 4  in that section to check that your JAVA_HOME environment variable has been set correctly.

Install the Oracle JDK

 To install the Oracle JDK, follow these instructions:

1. Go to the Java download page.
2. Download the JDK version 1.8

4. When the download has finished, run the Java installer. At one point, you will be asked to choose a directory to install to. Copy or write this directory down for use later.
5. Check that the JAVA_HOME environment variable has been set correctly.

   2. In the command prompt window, type echo %JAVA_HOME% and then press Enter.

To install the Oracle JRE, follow these instructions:

Locate the JDK or JRE Installation Directory 

If you already know the installation path for the Java or Software Development Kit, go to Step 2 the Set the JAVA_HOME Environment Variable section below. Otherwise, find the installation path by following these instructions:

1. Unless you changed the installation path for the Java Development Kit or the Java Runtime Environment during installation, it will be in a directory under C:\Program Files(x86)\Java for a 32 bit architecture and under c:\Program Files for a 64 bit Windows system. Using Explorer, open the directory C:\Program Files(x86) or Program Files\Java.
2. Inside that path will be one or more subdirectories such as jdk1.8.0_22. If you have just installed the Java Development Kit, it will be installed to the newest directory, which you can find by sorting by date. For example, it may be installed in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_22. This is the installation path.
3. An example of an installation path for the JRE on a 64 bit windows system would be c:\Program Files\java\jre1.8.0_22
